I recreated the boats, anchor and lighthouses in the comforter into the letters, and painted them on 9 inch wooden letters with acrylic paints. Why pay big bucks for something mass manufacured by retailers such as Pottery Barn, when you can opt for something handmade.

Looking for inspiration... its right in front of you..
I often find that I struggle with the start of each project. As we speak, I have a blank canvas that was supposed to be my mom's Christmas gift, hanging in my living room waiting for that bright idea to motivate me. I have a vague idea of what I want to do, but the overwhelming possibilities of the design details can drive me crazy. When I find myself with "artists block", I personally look around me for inspiration.
I went shopping with a friend of my for accessories for her new apartment. I went with her because she was afraid of color...... very afraid. At the store, I found a pillow that captured my attention right away. The bright blues, greens and teals work together with the leaves and peacock style flowers, for a very contemporary and classic feel.

This is what happens when you are snowed in!
Over 12 inches of snow for Boston. It feels like 3 degress with the wind chill. This former Floridian is staying inside to work on some projects. I got this idea from a co-worker who received a similar item as a gift. I thought her jewlery box could use some improvements, so I took a shot at it and am pretty pleased at the results.
This is a wooden jewery box painted in pink and white, adorned with painted flowers and rhinestones for some bling.
More projects to come! Enjoy!
